When you see other people transform their bodies for the better, does it inspire you to transform yourself? If so, read on to learn about amazing body transformations from 2020 to inspire you for 2021.

If it doesn’t, it could be that the way they chose to get fit doesn’t excite you or suit your style. Choosing the perfect place to work out can inspire you to meet your own transformation goals. Whether you settle on joining a gym or decide to work out at home is a personal preference. Understanding the benefits and drawbacks of both can help you make the right choice.

Have you noticed others who started working out in 2020 and have already had amazing body transformations?  Your initial reaction to a transformation story can indicate if joining a gym or working out at home is right for you.

Should You Transform Your Body by Joining a Gym or Working Out at Home?

Joining a Gym

Finding the right gym for your needs is important. You may want to ask friends, family, and coworkers for recommendations. It is probably wise to find a gym that is relatively close to where you live or work. To get more details, you can request an appointment to tour their facilities and receive a free temporary pass to test the waters.

Benefits of Gym Membership

Many gyms provide a broad selection of equipment, classes, and services. These things can help to ease boredom and add to the excitement of getting a better workout. Finding the right gym can motivate you to get fit. In addition to free weights, you can often choose from elliptical machines, stair steppers, treadmills, bikes and more.

As a gym member, you have the option to take a variety of classes. Depending on the gym, these can include yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, circuit training, cycling, and Zumba. Live instructors can offer personalized encouragement and comments. In general, you can ask gym staff for assistance, and sometimes they can even help you zero in on your goals or find new ways to motivate you. Virtual workouts have become widely used since the COVID19 pandemic hit last year, so the benefit of personalized service is still available.

A gym provides a community of like-minded individuals as well. Although the goals can differ — losing weight, gaining muscle definition, toning specific parts of your body — achieving them is done through physical activity. Sometimes just seeing others’ results is inspiring.

You are likely to find people who can tell you stories of their amazing body transformations from 2020 to inspire you for 2021. This can give you hope and make you feel like you are part of a winning team. And other members can motivate you to work a little bit harder than if you were alone.

Some gyms offer other amenities that can make your workouts fun, such as pools, hot tubs, and tennis courts. Also, there are less distractions at a gym. You can work on transforming your body without interruptions. It’s unlikely someone at the gym will be asking you to make them dinner or taking out the trash.

Drawbacks of Gym.

As you probably suspected, joining a gym costs money. Sometimes they can cost a lot of money. The more classes, equipment, and services on hand, the higher the cost. You will need to pay a lump sum or make monthly payments. Sometimes you are required to pay a signup fee or other added costs. And additional services, like on site food and beverages or massages, can come at a price. The cost of a gym membership can be both good and bad. Although paying for a gym membership can be motivating, it could also be discouraging if you are unable to go for any reason.

Other drawbacks include class and equipment availability. Gyms are typically busy before and after work hours. If your schedule is not flexible, this can lead to waiting times for equipment and classes. The pandemic led to state and local jurisdictions limiting capacity, but that seems to be changing. Other natural disasters could also impact availability, such as fires and heavy storms.

If you are dependent on a gym for your workout, you may not get in during unavoidable busy times. Driving to the gym and finding parking can add time to your workout commitment. You will also need to get ready to go, which means you will need to change into appropriate workout gear and find and fill your water bottle. All these activities can eat up your valuable free time. And, let’s face it, sometimes other gym-goers can be annoying. They can be judgmental or get in your personal space. You are never alone in a gym.

Working Out at Home for Amazing Body Transformations

To keep yourself energized and motivated, you can stream live workouts, use videos, and download apps. Fortunately, there are now plenty of ways to work out at home. Plus, you don’t need to wear gear specifically made for working out. You can wear your pajamas or a torn tee-shirt if it inspires you. You can drink your water out of your favorite glass instead of a water bottle.

Since you are in charge of your schedule, you can decide when you want to exercise, which means you can reschedule your day and time if needed. You can work out in your bedroom, basement, backyard or anywhere you want. Working out at home is relatively inexpensive since you have no monthly dues and no extra fees. If you want to purchase equipment, such as free weights and resistance bands, it is only a one-time cost.

Drawbacks of Working Out at Home

You will need to find several workout routines; otherwise, you run the risk of getting bored. It’s easy to miss workouts since you can cancel for any reason. Although you can go online to see amazing body transformations from 2020 to inspire you for 2021, you will not be able to see or hear their stories in person.

When it comes to your equipment, the cost and space can be an issue. For example, you may not have enough space for a stair stepper, and it also might be too expensive. Although purchasing a video is a one-time cost, a set of videos can be expensive, and so can streaming live workouts.
